CITRINE

Citrine has long been considered to be the poor man's topaz, but in fact is a beautiful stone in its own right. A member of the prolific quartz family its colour range from pale lemon yellow, to a rich sherry colour. Found throughout the world it is widely used in inexpensive jewellery, often as the centrepiece in Celtic designs. Recently the relatively low cost of the stone has made it a favourite for young designers, and it is gradually finding its true place in the market. We stock various shades of citrine, from pale and lemon colours to the rich 'Madeira' orange.  Thought to increase awareness and the control of emotions, it also diminishes self-destructive tendencies and raises self-esteem. Location - Brazil, Africa, Russia and various places in the world. Group - Quartz R.I. - 1..544-1.553 Hardness - 7
