IOLITE
Iolite has become popular in the last few years because of its relatively low cost and its unique indigo colour. It has shaken off its images as a poor man's Sapphire and achieved prominence as a desirable gemstone in its own right. It is much used by modern jewellery designers looking for something different. Due to its colour it is often used as an inexpensive alternative to tanzanite.
